Milan Fashion Week

Hey!
Milan fashion week is going on right now, and of course I have been keeping up with the shows online.  As usual there are lots of fur coats on the Milan runways for winter.  Some of my favorite shows so far have been Gucci, Prada, and Dsquared2.  Frida Gianni, the designer for Gucci, designed lots of black python mixed with purple stiff fabrics.  Throughout the show the collection evolved and became more fluid and elegant.  I loved the feathers and silk at the end of the Gucci show. Miuccia Prada did not design patterns like she did last season.  Instead she designed coats with bulky arms in solid colors. Prada also played around with skirt lengths, making the left side longer than the right.  I love the bow ties and hats in the Dsquared2 collection.

Class At Parsons

Hey!
Last summer I took a pre college class at Parsons.  I learned a lot from the class and it was a great experience!  In the last two weeks of the class each student designed a small collection and made garments from it.  The inspiration for my collection was figure skating and dancing.  I have been figure skating my whole life, and I wanted to put two things I love together, skating and fashion.  I tried to bring the gracefulness of skating to the collection by choosing pastel fabrics.  Below is the final collection, the garments I made from the collection, fabric swatches for the collection, and sketches from the process of designing the collection.
